Week 5 TNF Preview: Bucs @ Bears

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1) @ Chicago Bears (3-1)

Current Lines: Bucs -3.5 II O/U 44.5

Week 5 kicks off with a rematch (of sorts) of Super Bowl 52. Brady and Foles face off and both are wearing new jerseys this season. Can Foles capture the magic again or will Brady be on top this time? Both teams enter Thursday Night with a 3-1 record and are playing pretty good football considering the new normal of COVID protocols. It's been awhile since we had two solid teams play on Thursday night and we can finally see a good game between two good teams.

Writers Picks:

Vince: Bucs

James: Bucs

Zach: Bucs

Ryan: Bucs

Maher: Bucs

Patrick Bucs

Game Notes:

Bears

  • David Montgomery has no competition for carries in this offense with 53 already on the year but he has 218 scoreless yards. Can he finally get into the endzone?

  • Allen Robinson has 25 catches (11th in NFL) on 41 targets (4th in NFL) can he keep it rolling against a Buccaneers secondary allowing 35 Fantasy Points per game to the WR position.

  • Can anyone step up and become a well-needed #2 option for the Bears offense?

  • The Buccaneers will be without multiple starters on offense. Can the Bears Defense take advantage of the Buccaneers situation?

Buccaneers

  • How does Tom Brady distribute the ball without Godwin, Watson, Howard and McCoy out and Evans and Fournette questionable.

  • Is Rob Gronkowski going to be a thing this week?

  • Ronald Jones looked pretty good last week and with no McCoy and probably no Fournette, Rojo could be in for another big workload.

  • Can Tom Terrific pull out another Gem and put the team on his back like we’ve seen him do many times before.

Fantasy Football Starts

Buccaneers

  • QB Tom Brady- If the injuries scare you just look at what he did to the chargers last week. (300+ yards and 5 TDs)

  • RB Ronald Jones (26 touches for 128 yards) played very well last week and could see an even bigger workload this week.

  • WR Mike Evans-  He is officially listed as questionable but he came back into the game last week and finished with 7 catches for 122 and a Touchdown.

  • TE Rob Gronkowski- I know he has been underperforming but with all the injuries to the Bucs he’s a worthy Dart Throw.

Bears

  • RB David Montgomery- Monty leads the NFL with the most yards without a TD with 218. The workload is there, and the touchdowns will come.

  • WR Allen Robinson- Averaging 10 targets a game. With that target volume he’s a Must Start.

Deep Sleepers

WR’s Tyler Johnson (Bucs) and Darnell Mooney (Bears)

Johnson may get the start and could see an uptick in overall snaps and snaps with Tom Brady are valuable.

Mooney is 2nd on the Bears in REC yards with 145. There isn't a clear number two option but I can see Mooney playing a big role in this game.
